CardSmith and Vision Database Systems Inc. (VDS) today announced a merger of the companies to create an expanded and uniquely capable transaction solutions business.  As part of the agreement, Vision Database Systems will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of CardSmith, continuing current operations from Jupiter, FL.   Emil Bonaduce will continue as President of VDS and will become a shareholder of CardSmith.  He will also assume the additional duties of Vice President, Corporate Development for CardSmith.  The new corporate structure includes having all VDS staff join CardSmith while ensuring that VDS as an entity will continue its business as usual for customers and suppliers for the foreseeable future.

“We are thrilled to welcome Emil and the Vision Database team to CardSmith” said company President Jay Summerall.  “Our companies have worked together for many years, and their people and products have always been there to support our growing customer base.  Vision’s card production and verification solutions are very complementary to our cloud transaction service, and we are looking forward to a deeper integration of those applications with CardSmith.  VDS is also a leader in mobile and contactless transaction solutions.  Together, we’ll work to enable card issuers and service providers to create and manage virtually any kind of transaction, from anywhere, on any card, device or medium”.

Summerall continued:  “CardSmith’s focus has always been on making it simple and affordable for customers to deliver professional transaction services for campus ID and other custom card programs.  This combination will enable us to provide uniquely comprehensive solutions.  We’ll support customers in every phase of card program management: starting from front-end card production to transaction management and cardholder service as well as program marketing and back-end operations support.  In addition to cloud based technologies that eliminate local systems and software, our customers can continue to expect the best technical and operations support anywhere. “

“I’m very excited that VDS is joining forces with CardSmith to create one of the most innovative and rapidly growing transaction service providers” said Bonaduce.  “I look forward to a tighter integration of our ID carding and mobile ID tracking products to create dynamic new products for our existing base of clients worldwide.  This is an opportunity for us to be a part of and help create a great future for our enhanced company.  We have worked closely with the staff at CardSmith for many years making this very comfortable for the VDS team.  I’m personally looking forward to rolling up my sleeves to develop transformative solutions that break the status-quo of legacy systems and service models.”

New product releases are already scheduled.  Next month, CardSmith/VDS will be rolling out a real-time integration between VDS’ RapidCard IDMS and CardSmith’s transaction databases, and a mobile version of CardSmith’s cardholder website for any smartphone or tablet.   In addition, two new products will be released at the upcoming American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) exhibition in Philadelphia from September 10-12. The new products include a brand new ID verification solution and an innovative proximity card scanner.
